Florida Department of Elder Affairs: The DOEA is a helpful resource on a variety of issues relating to aging. The general jurisdiction, mission and purpose of the department are found in Chapter 430 of the Florida Statutes. The DOEA maintains the Elder Helpline, a statewide toll-free number 1-800-96ELDER, as well as a website located at http://elderaffairs.state.fl.us/index.php . The department also co-sponsors publication of the “Older Floridians Handbook.”
You must sign and notarize the original power of attorney document, and certify several copies. Banks and other businesses will not allow your agent to act on your behalf unless they receive a certified copy of the power of attorney. Attorneys are unnecessary to execute a power of attorney. For a power of attorney to become a legally enforceable document, at a minimum it must be signed and dated by the principal.[7] Some jurisdictions also require that a power of attorney be witnessed, notarized, or both.[8] Even when not required, having the document reviewed and signed (and often stamped) by a notary public may increase the likelihood of withstanding a legal challenge.[9]
You have a terminal illness: The doctors must also decide that you have a terminal or other condition that falls under your state's living will law. Each state may define terminal illness in a different way. Your state may use terms such as permanent unconsciousness (not awake or aware), or irreversible condition (a condition that will not get better). Your state may have other rules that control when a living will takes effect.
Texas-based artist Edward Gustav Eisenlohr (1872 – 1961) came to Dallas at the age of two, where his father established Eisenlohr Drug Store. Eisenlohr drew inspiration for art subjects from the Oak Cliff area of Dallas and his travels to New Mexico, the Texas Hill Country, and the western areas of his adopted state.
